At Encore Caregivers, they are dedicated to providing those in need with the care and assistance they require to get the most out of life.
From light housekeeping that ensures a clean, sanitary and organized space to companionship to personal care – ensuring the help seniors need with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, etc, they are here to help your loved one in any way they can. Their skilled and experienced caregivers are in seniors’ homes, condos, apartments, hotel rooms, independent and assisted living facilities, memory care units and hospitals each and every day, caring for their neighbors.
Services:
Alzheimer’s Care
Dementia Care, in general, and Alzheimer’s Care in particular are two areas in which Encore Caregivers shines. Their nurse is trained by the Alzheimer’s Association and the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners and makes sure that each and every caregiver on staff is fully trained and tested in basic dementia care before they even leave the Encore Caregivers’ new employee orientation. When speaking to a client with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia of any kind, do you sit? Do you stand? Do you look the client in the eye? Do you increase your volume? Do you touch the client? How do your re-direct behavior and quiet fears? All of this (and so much more) is addressed. Good, solid caregiving for a client with Alzheimer’s Disease is both a science as well as an art. They have got both down to a tee.
Personal Care
Not all of their clients need it, but when they do, each one of their caregivers is trained and skilled and ready to offer help with what the state of Texas Department of Health and Human Services calls ADLs (activities of daily living). They call it personal care. It is a broad category and can be everything from walking, eating, drinking, bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and much, much more. They are helping Houston’s seniors accomplish these basic tasks each and every day, building their confidence and raising their quality of life.
Companionship
The Alzheimer’s Association and leading physicians agree that socialization is a key factor in staving off cognitive decline. And, that’s where Encore Caregivers comes in – reminiscing, engaging in conversation and social interacting, helping with hobbies (because the senior can’t do them alone anymore or because the senior doesn’t want to do them alone), driving the senior to doctor’s appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores, etc. One of their favorite clients said, “Let’s go to the Hill Country and look at the flowers.” They do that and so much more.
Medical Procedure
Looking for senior patient transportation to and from a medical procedure? Houston, as you know, is home to one of the largest medical centers in the world. When a patient flies in for a procedure, often it’s us who meets them at the airport. Who takes them to the hotel? Us, again. Who takes them to the procedure, back to the hotel, and eventually back to the airport? You guessed it. It’s us. But on the home front, lots of Houston seniors need assistance in getting to a procedure or are required by the hospital to have someone check them in or check them out post-procedure. That’s where they come in again. They laugh and say that Encore Caregivers must be on the medical community’s speed dial for procedure transportation – maybe because they are reliable and dependable and trusted.
